You can also stop for shopping in Valamo

Valamo's souvenir shop Tuohus serves guests daily from morning to evening. The shop's shelves offer a comprehensive selection of products related to the Orthodox way of life: hand-painted icons, printed icons, lampadas, prayer ropes, postcards, neck crosses and icons, beeswax candles made in Valamo, monastery tea, and much more. The selection also includes many different gift and decorative items, sweets, and souvenirs – regardless of denomination. Tuohus is also one of the best-equipped Orthodox bookstores in the country. Those interested in Orthodox church music will also be delighted by Tuohus's wide selection.

The wine shop located in connection with Valamo Monastery offers travelers the best local domestic wines. The wine shop is open during the monastery reception's opening hours.

There is a wheelchair ramp at the entrance to the reception building.

Restaurant Trapesa

You can buy delicacies to go from Restaurant Trapesa. For sale are, for example, malt bread, the monastery's own sauerkraut, biscuits, and coffee cakes (selection varies daily, and not all products are always available).

You can also stop for shopping in Valamo. This is not a modern invention either, as pilgrims and other travelers have always wanted to bring home some souvenirs from their monastery trip – even stones from the monastery grounds if they lacked money. In Valamo on Lake Ladoga, too, a relatively large souvenir shop operated from early on, where, for example, handicrafts made by the brotherhood and icons were sold.
