Course description

The course highlights the connections, history and future prospects of the Estonian and Finnish Orthodox Churches. During the course, we will examine, among other things, Estonian saints, the resumption of monastic life in Saaremaa, Archbishop Herman's Estonian roots and the activities of Estonian friendship societies. There is also a musical perspective: we will get to know the spiritual production of composer Arvo Pärt. The course will be introduced and discussed by, among others, Bishop Damaskinos of Haapsalu and experts from the fields of church and culture. The program includes lectures, discussions, prayer life and the opportunity for silence. The course offers a unique opportunity to delve into the common heritage of the Estonian and Finnish Orthodox Churches and build bridges to the future.
