Valamo Monastery is located in Heinävesi, along national road 23 leading from Varkaus to Joensuu, in the middle of the most beautiful Lake Finland.

The nearest train station is located in Heinävesi, about 40 km from Valamo.

VALAMO TAXI SERVICE

Valamo Monastery taxi offers transportation to Valamo daily, if needed. The service focuses on connection transports to Valamo and back, and cannot be used for example for occasional trips made on site.

The service is intended for all guests arriving at Valamo, such as accommodated guests, course participants, and volunteers.

Taxi rides are booked in advance and can be done already when making a reservation, but no later than the day before the arrival date.

The taxi has space for eight passengers, so it is advisable to book a ride in advance. Please inform us if a child under three years old or a pet is traveling with the taxi booker.

The connection transport, which is tailored to the schedules of trains and buses arriving and departing from Joensuu, departs from Joensuu at approximately 3:00 PM. The transport waits for the arrival of the Helsinki-Joensuu IC3 train. The arrival time at the monastery is approximately 4:00 PM.

Return transport to Joensuu departs from the monastery at 1:45 PM

The price of the transport from Joensuu is 26 euros/person.

Payment is made directly to the driver after the trip, with cash or common payment cards. Standard luggage is included in the price, the taxi is not accessible.

It is advisable to check schedules in advance, as they may change with summer and winter time.
