Spend a moment in silence

The monastery's services are open to everyone. You can also come to the church just to pray for a moment, both during services and during other church opening hours.

Two services are held daily in the main church. The morning begins with the midnight service and the morning service on weekdays and ends with a combination of the IX moment, the evening service and a small post-evening service. On Saturdays and on the eve of holidays, the evening ends with the vigil, on Sundays with the evening service and the akathist. There are also numerous exceptions to the regular services each year - for example, on Orthodox Church holidays and during fasting times.

During the summer months, a half-hour-long moleben, or prayer service, is held once a day, except for some holidays. On weekdays, the prayer service is held in the main church and on weekends in the old church. During the winter, no services are held in the old church.

The tsasounas are intended mainly for private devotion, but in each tsasouna a water blessing service is held as part of their temple celebration and at least one liturgy is held during the summer season on days to be announced separately. However, memorial services, i.e. panihidos and burial services, can be held in the cemetery tsasouna, if there are few mourners and the weather permits.

The monastery churches perform baptisms, burials and accessions to the Orthodox Church upon request, but not marriages. If necessary, guests have the opportunity for a spiritual discussion with the monastery clergy.

"We warmly welcome all guests, regardless of their beliefs, to the monastery and its services."

Warmly greetings,
Valamo Brotherhood
