Course description

Love is part of human life. However, it is not always simple. Sometimes love surprises us and brings meaning to life. Sometimes a headwind blows. There are many kinds of love. It is part of human relationships, but we also experience love for beauty or spiritual things. You can prepare for the dialogue by thinking in advance about an example from your own life related to the topic. It can be a concrete situation in which you have realized or recognized good love or its lack. The dialogue starts with your own examples, through which we can reflect and explore what kind of thoughts we have about love. Socratic dialogue (Nelson-Heckmann tradition) is a group discussion in which the chosen topic is examined based on the participants' own experiences. By sharing experiences and examining them together critically, we can learn to understand the underlying and guiding principles or attitudes. We work on the course using the methods of Socratic dialogue. The course is directed by Pia Houni, a lecturer in philosophy and a practitioner of philosophy.
