Course description

The course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to paint an Orthodox icon using the traditional egg tempera technique. This course is stress-free - no previous painting experience is required! We will paint a simple shoulder icon of the Mother of God. We will proceed step by step from drawing a model and preparing colors to painting and finishing the icon. At the same time, we will learn about the theology of icons and the history of icon painting. Supplies and materials, such as an icon board, brushes and pigments, can be purchased from the school. The course begins on May 19. Accommodation for the previous night is included in the course price, and any meals on May 18 will be paid for at Trapesa at normal prices. Please also note that people under 35 years of age receive a 40 percent discount on the price of icon painting courses. The teacher is icon painter Sofia Williams.
