Course description

In this writing retreat, we look for our own sources and inspiration for writing. We gather in small groups for joint exercises and exchange of ideas. Quiet time is reserved for working on our own text. We receive feedback on the texts through individual guidance and discussion with the group. The course is suitable for prose writing enthusiasts who want to find new perspectives and tools for writing fiction. The course begins on July 2nd. Accommodation for the previous night is included in the course price, and any meals on July 1st will be paid at Trapesa at normal prices. The teacher is the author Asko Jaakonaho.

I am Asko Jaakonaho, a freelance writer living in Tampere. My historical novels are based on real-life people. My debut novel Onnenmme tiella is set in Heinävesi, in the vicinity of the Valamo Monastery. Valamo offers writing course participants an environment that encourages concentration. The aim of my courses is to create a conversational and inspiring atmosphere. I bring my own experiences and observations about the work of a writer to the discussions. I hope that the course participants will find new perspectives and tools for their own writing.
