Course description

Creativity and with it words open up in rest. In rest you hear the words of the Creator. Stop and sit down with yourself and write your story. Enjoy a peaceful writing weekend in the Valamo Monastery, in its beautiful surroundings, in prayer. Rejoice in your own time - and write. Life's touches and past experiences open up through writing. Mari Vainio has been teaching creative writing for about twenty years. The course gently guides you, with the support of the instructor, towards the days of your own life. Memories can arise from childhood, moments from school or working years, perhaps from events in your beloved church and its parishes. The course does not criticize anyone's texts, but rejoices together in the words of life. Everyone's own, valuable flow of words is allowed to flow freely. Life is like a big, full box. With the help of this course you will find ways to find your valuable memories. Creative writing is supported by moments of stopping that lead to presence. There will also be time for a peaceful walk around the monastery and for participating in services. They help to set you up for life. The course begins on July 17th, the previous night's accommodation is included in the course price, and any meals on July 16th will be paid for at Trapesa at normal prices. The instructor is Mari Vainio, who is a creative writing teacher, journalist, yoga instructor, silence retreat instructor and solution-focused coach.

Participant feedback:

"Thank you for the course, it gave me so much! As happy as I was on Sunday, I feel like the biggest insights only hit me when I got home. It feels amazing how giving space to silence and stopping can open locks in life and writing that I didn't even realize existed! You are absolutely incomparable, Mari, I am truly grateful for all the good you gave me over the weekend; you touch people's lives so deeply with your courses."
