Valamo College divides its courses by subject. Icon Academy, Orthodox Faith and Lifestyle, Crafts, On the Path of Life, and Culture and Art.

The college provides the opportunity and space to discuss current, philosophical, and theological themes. Write, draw, paint, learn to sing, and take care of your body. Experience the nature surrounding the monastery alone and/or together, be quiet, hike, even sleep in the monastery's forests. Create something exciting with your hands; paint or embroider an icon, even hammer it out of silver or cast it out of bronze, or weave a chain. To care for the soul, spirit and body, to feel the empowering spirit of the monastery in everything.

Icon painting is not offered elsewhere in educational institutions in Finland. You can progress from beginners to master level, so you do not need to have previous experience in icon painting to come to our courses.
