Course description

The always relevant Book of Job! Perhaps the oldest book in the Bible confronts man's eternal question of why accidents, illnesses, aging and death are part of life. And why is it that even complete sincerity before God does not lead to success, but often to heavy disappointments. Job is completely disappointed in his life, he loses his children, his possessions and his health. Friends who have come to comfort him turn into enemies and just when it seems that everything is ending, it turns out that everything is just beginning. Today, too, we live in a time when God turns to the prayers of those who have lost everything. Ps. 102:18, What does it mean that God no longer rejects a person's prayer? The course discusses the conditions set by the reality of life for human growth, as well as how easy it is to "nobly pass by". In the case of Job, the participation of Elihu, who appeared on the scene, in the treatment of the crisis is essential: he understood the alphabet of walking alongside - and everyone's own responsibility. The compassion that God shows towards his creatures is the most essential heritage of the New Testament and the patristic tradition, but it only works in practice. Teacher: Father Risto Käyhkö.
