Teacher

Oljakka Jaana

I am Jaana Oljakka, from Nurmijärvi. I am a silversmith by training and I teach precious metals courses here at the institute. I have my own workshop (company) in Helsinki. I started teaching in the 80s at the Mariehamn Maritime Institute and later in Kotka, at the Maritime Department of Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences. I am also a radio operator and a mate by training. In addition to teaching, I completed an adult pedagogical qualification. I first became acquainted with the Valamo institute when I came here for a course. The then precious metals teacher at the institute invited me to teach here and that is the path we are on.
