Stores

You can also stop by Valamo for shopping.

The Valamo souvenir shop Tuohus serves guests daily from morning to night. The shop's shelves offer a comprehensive selection of products related to the Orthodox lifestyle: hand-painted icons, printed icons, lampshades, prayer beads, postcards, neck crosses and icons, beeswax candles made in Valamo, monastery tea and much more. The selection also includes a wide variety of gifts and decorative items, sweets and gifts – regardless of religion. Tuohus is also one of the best-stocked Orthodox bookstores in the country. Those interested in Orthodox church music will also be delighted with Tuohus's wide selection.

The wine shop located in connection with the Valamo Monastery offers tourists the best local Finnish wines. The wine shop is open during the monastery reception opening hours.

There is a wheelchair ramp at the entrance to the reception building.

Restaurant Trapesa

You can buy treats to take away from the Trapesa restaurant. They sell, among other things, malt bread, the monastery's own sauerkraut, cookies and coffee cakes (the selection varies daily, and not all products are always available).

"You can also stop by Valamo to shop. This is not a modern invention either, as pilgrims and other travelers have always wanted to bring home some souvenirs from their trip to the monastery – if they lacked money, even stones from the monastery grounds. Valamo on Lake Ladoga also had a relatively large souvenir shop from a relatively early date, selling, for example, handicrafts and icons made by the brotherhood."
