Finland's only monastery taxi operates tailor-made connecting transports between Valamo and Joensuu.

Valamo monastery taxi offers transport to Valamo every day if needed. For now, the service focuses on connecting transports from Joensuu railway station to Valamo and back.

The monastery taxi serves all guests arriving in Valamo, such as guests staying at the accommodation, students at the Valamo Institute and volunteers.

Taxi rides must be booked in advance, at the latest by the day before arrival.

Cancellations are free of charge up to 24 hours before the travel date. After that, the full fare of €26 will be charged.

The taxi accommodates up to eight passengers, so booking early is recommended. Please inform us if a child under three years old will be travelling. Pets are not allowed in the taxi.

The connection transfer, tailored to train and bus timetables arriving in Joensuu, departs Joensuu around 15:00. The taxi waits for the arrival of the Helsinki–Joensuu IC3 train. Arrival at the monastery is approximately 16:00.

The return transfer to Joensuu departs from the monastery at 13:45.

The fare is €26 per person per direction. Payment is made directly to the driver at the end of the trip, in cash or with major bank cards. Normal luggage is included in the fare. Please note that the taxi is not accessible.

Schedules may vary according to summer and winter timetables, so please check in advance.
