Welcome to the Valamo leadership retreat!

Valamo Leadership Retreat 4.-6.3.2026

“You can’t lead people if you don’t know them. You can give them tasks, but that’s not leadership yet.”

Enter the peace of Valamo Monastery to deepen your leadership. Here, questions can breathe without pressure to perform and you have time to hear your own voice. The retreat invites you into the deeper flow of leadership. Away from to-do lists towards meaningful encounters. Valamo is a unique place whose environment invites you to calm down and be quiet. In Valamo, you can find a space where it is easy to move towards essential questions. The atmosphere of the monastery, nature and being together create a space to reflect on values, meanings, leadership and of course, yourself.

What do we study?

Leadership is a constantly changing encounter. When the framework of working life is lived daily, ready-made recipes are rarely enough. We therefore delve into the core issues of leadership through knowledge, experience, physicality and silence. How do you build social security: do you feel wanted, valuable, welcome – and what about your team? Who in you makes decisions and bears the consequences? How do you lead so that every day at work is a meaningful part of your life? At Valamo you get to explore these questions in a way that is difficult to achieve anywhere else. The rhythm and nature of the monastery support us in a special way. The course also includes one personal philosopher's reception sparring session to explore a topic that is meaningful to you. The meeting will be arranged after the course and will last an hour, either face-to-face or remotely.

Special guest

The monastery's director, Archimandrite Mikael, will open up the philosophy of silence, decision-making and community support – an encounter that will leave no one indifferent.
