Course description
In this course, we will delve into the traditional icon gilding technique, bolus or poliment gilding. We will learn the entire process from preparing the clay-rabbit glue mixture to handling loose gold, decorating, and protecting it. We will also explore the design and creation of decorative ornaments by engraving and polishing. The goal is to prepare a complete background gilding for the student's next icon. The gilding course is suitable for icon painters of all levels, from beginners to those more advanced. Supplies and materials can be purchased from the institute. Please also note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting courses. Course instruction begins on July 6th. Accommodation for the preceding night is included in the course price, and any meals on July 5th are paid at Trapesaan at normal prices. Instructor: icon painter Sofia Williams.
If you combine this course with the icon painting advanced course starting on July 9th, the combined price for the two courses is 900 €, and no other usual discounts are granted from this price. Those under 35 years old receive a discount from the normal prices of both courses.
