The archive's treasures also include the correspondence of Russian painters who worked in Valamo, as well as famous scientists and other prominent figures of their time.

The memoirs of the monks and their official personal letters over the years are also important sources. Very interesting are the notebooks in which the daily tasks performed by the monks are recorded. The unique material also includes summaries of observations from the Finnish Meteorological Institute's station, which were regularly sent to the Nikolaos Physical Observatory in Pietari.

The archive contains information on how the monastery's library and the monks' private libraries were supplemented in the 19th and 20th centuries. The archive also preserves a significant photo collection, which has been well preserved to our days. The monastery's photography studio was founded soon after the invention of photography.

The activities of the monastery archive have continued in Uusi-Valamo since 1941. The archive is not open to the public. Access to the archive must be arranged in advance via email.
