The church and beverage production have a long shared history. Already during the first crusades, monks brought the tradition of distillation to Europe – and in Valamo, these ancient skills still live on.
The Monastery's wine production began at its current location in 1998, and since then, abundant berry harvests and herbs from their own estates have been refined into high-quality berry wines, liqueurs, and artisan spirits.

In Valamo, handcrafted arctic wines and spirits mature peacefully, surrounded by the Monastery's ancient silence. Each bottle carries with it the purity of Heinävesi nature and the centuries-old expertise of the monastic brotherhood.

The unique character of Valamo's beverages is born from Finland's pure berries, aromatic herbs, and fresh spring water – water whose clarity is unmatched.

The Monastery's wine shop offers visitors the opportunity to discover and purchase arctic red wines, white wines, dessert wines, and sparkling wines – Valamo's flavors at their best.

Guided Presentations and Tastings for groups

Welcome to dive into the world of Valamo's wines and spirits on site. The Monastery's atmosphere and tranquil environment make the tastings an experience.

Wine Presentation – 1 hr

Tasting includes three Valamo wines.

Whisky Presentation – 1 hr

Tasting includes two Valamo whiskies.

Wine and Whisky Presentation – 1 hr

Tasting includes two wines and one whisky.

Presentations are arranged for groups of at least 8 people by prior arrangement.
