Course description

How to paint a temple in three days? What do the walls of Jerusalem look like? What kind of chair is suitable for the Mother of God? What is an attribute? Learn to create icon interiors and cityscapes based on Byzantine models. The subjects are small objects, houses, doors, columns, beds and thrones. The course is suitable for anyone interested in icon painting. We practice by drawing and painting with tempera paints on practice bases. The exercises also develop a color eye and knowledge of pigments. Students will compile their own electronic learning material together. The course will be followed by an independent continuation part, which focuses on people, clothing and the built environment. Please note that people under 35 years of age receive a 40 percent discount on the icon painting course fee. The teacher is icon painter Katariina Koskivaara-Ilmonen.
