Wegmann Claudia

I am Claudia Wegmann, a Swiss-born bookbinder from Kuopio, and I have my own bookbinding workshop. Bookbinding was initially a hobby for me, which soon turned into a passion and completely captivated me. It eventually led to a career change and a master's degree. Bookbinding has playfully been called the world's second oldest profession, and for that reason alone, it's important for me to share my professional skills with as many people as possible. I teach private students in my own studio, but I have also taught groups both in schools and privately. In teaching, I provide students with basic knowledge, but I always aim for students to find their own paths. Experimental bookbinding is close to my heart. I love the smell and feel of leather and paper, and I enjoy playing with colors and shapes. No matter how much the world changes, nothing can replace a well-made, hand-bound book. Bookbinding is my field and my mission.
