Wegmann Claudia

I am Claudia Wegmann, a Swiss-born bookbinder from Kuopio, and I have my own bookbindery. Bookbinding was initially a hobby for me, which soon turned into a passion and completely absorbed me. It led me to change fields and even to a master's degree. Bookbinding has been jokingly called the second oldest profession in the world, and for that reason alone, it is important to me to share my expertise with as many people as possible. I have private students in my own studio, but I have also taught groups both in schools and privately. When teaching, I give students basic knowledge, but I always strive for students to find their own paths. Experimental bookbinding is close to my heart. I love the smell and feel of leather and paper, I like playing with colors and shapes. No matter how much the world changes, nothing can replace a good hand-bound book. Bookbinding is my field and my mission.
