Teacher

Oljakka Jaana

I am Jaana Oljakka, from Nurmijärvi. By training, I am a silversmith and teach precious metal courses here at the college. I have my own workshop (company) in Helsinki. I started teaching in the 80s at the Mariehamn Nautical Institute and later in Kotka, at the Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences, Department of Nautical Studies. I am also a radio operator and first mate by training. Alongside teaching, I completed adult pedagogical qualifications. I first became acquainted with Valamo College when I came here for a course. The college's then-precious metal teacher persuaded me to come here to teach, and I've been here ever since.
