Course description

Hodigitria, or Guide, is one of the most important main types of icons of the Mother of God. Characteristically, the Christ Child sits on his mother’s right or left arm, and the Mother of God’s hand, raised in prayer, points to the child, who is the way, the truth, and the life. This main group includes countless variations, such as the Tikhvin, Smolensk, and Jerusalem icons. The version to be painted on the course is optional. Alongside practical painting work and instruction, we will go through the most well-known compositions. Please note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting courses. The instructor is iconographer Alexander Wikström.
