Fundraising permit for the Friends of Valamo Association

The National Police Board has granted, starting from 1.1.2026, the Friends of Valamo Association (Business ID: 0620461-0) a fundraising permit (RA/2025/1783), which is valid indefinitely. The permit is valid throughout Finland, excluding Åland.

Purpose of the collected funds: The accumulated funds will be used to cover the construction and maintenance costs of Valamo Monastery's premises in Heinävesi and to finance construction, maintenance, and renovation measures to the extent that the use of the facilities is exclusively for public benefit activities. The funds will also be used to acquire and maintain necessary artifacts and tangible cultural heritage for the monastery, and to finance the collection and preservation of intangible cultural heritage (e.g., oral history about the monastery).

The funds will also be used for the association's publishing activities, which promote knowledge of monastic tradition and pilgrimage awareness. The funds can also be used to organize free, open-to-all seminars, courses, events, and exhibitions. The funds will enable visits to the monastery for families with children, low-income individuals, and special groups (disabled, immigrants, and other minorities), as well as participation in the association's and monastery's seminars and events, and Valamo Folk High School's courses.

The first fundraising targets are Valamo Monastery's Old Church renovation works: painting of the walls and renovation and painting of the church's windows, doors, and their frames, as well as improving the air conditioning of the Main Church.

The association's board handles fundraising permit matters in cooperation with Valamo Monastery's management, accounting firm, and the Police Authority.
