Fundraising permit for the Friends of Valamo Association

The National Police Board has granted a fundraising permit (RA/2025/1783) to the Friends of Valamo Association (Business ID: 0620461-0) as of 1 January 2026, which is valid until further notice. The permit is valid throughout Finland, except for the Åland Islands.

Purpose of use of the funds raised: The funds raised will contribute to the construction and maintenance costs of the premises of the Valamo Monastery in Heinävesi and will finance construction, maintenance and renovation measures to the extent that the use of the premises is exclusively for public benefit. The funds are used to acquire and maintain the monastery's necessary artifacts and tangible cultural heritage, and to finance the collection and preservation of intangible cultural heritage (for example, memory knowledge about the monastery).

The funds are also used for the association's publishing activities, which promote knowledge of the monastic tradition and pilgrimage knowledge. The funds can also be used to organize free seminars, courses, events and exhibitions that are open to everyone. The funds will enable families with children, the poor and special groups (the disabled, immigrants and other minorities) to visit the monastery, as well as to participate in the seminars and events of the association and the monastery, as well as in the courses of the Valamo College.

The first fundraising targets are the renovation of the Old Church of the Valamo Monastery: painting the walls and renovating and painting the windows, doors and their frames, as well as improving the air conditioning of the Main Church.

The association's board will handle fundraising permit issues in cooperation with the management of the Valamo Monastery, with the accounting firm and the Police Authority.
