The cenotaph or memorial ark of the Venerable Sergius and Herman, the founders of Valamo Monastery, arrives at Valamo Monastery on Tuesday, 9.9. in the morning. The cenotaph will be placed in the monastery's main church's so-called winter church, which is dedicated to the memory of the Venerable Sergius and Herman of Valamo. The first prayer service at the cenotaph will be held on Tuesday, 9.9, at 12 PM, or as soon as the installation of the cenotaph is completed. The first prayer service is intended to be recorded and shared on the monastery's channels later.

The cenotaph arrives just before the autumn feast of the Venerable Sergius and Herman, celebrated on 11.9. At that time, the return of the relics of the Venerable Sergius and Herman from Novgorod to Valamo is commemorated, and it is also the temple feast of the monastery's winter church.

The festive vigil will be held on Wednesday, 10.9, at 6 PM. On the feast day itself, Thursday, 11.9, the blessing of water will be performed at 8:15 AM and the liturgy at 9 AM. After the liturgy, a cross procession will be held around the church. On the evening of the feast day at 6 PM, there will be the Ninth Hour, Vespers, and an Akathist to the Venerable Sergius and Herman at the cenotaph.

All mentioned services will be held in the winter church, whose temple feast is celebrated and where the cenotaph will be placed. Metropolitan Arseni of Kuopio and Karelia and Bishop Sergei of Hamina, acting as Metropolitan of Oulu, will lead the festive vigil and liturgy. As the winter church is quite small, the entire congregation may not fit inside. The doors between the winter church and the main church will be fully opened, and part of the congregation can be on the main church side.

Originally, the cenotaph was located in the main church of Valamo on Lake Ladoga, on the spot where the Venerable Fathers Sergius and Herman are traditionally believed to be buried. Since 1968, it has been located in the Orthodox Church Museum Riisa in Kuopio.
