Cycle in the Monastery Landscapes

Heinävesi is home to Finland's only Orthodox monasteries – Valamo and Lintula. Two gravel routes run through their peaceful landscapes.

The routes are part of the Saimaa by Cycle network and connect culture, nature, and history in an impressive way.

The new Saimaa by Cycle gravel cycling route network includes a main route connecting Heinävesi, Liperi, and Rääkkylä, as well as eight municipal circular routes.
The route network was designed by cycling professionals Lauri Kontkanen/Hotu Outdoors Oy and Taneli Roininen/Gonebikefishing Adventures Oy.

Along the routes, you will find rest stops and picnic provisions. Businesses welcome cyclists. The routes are also accessible by public transport.
