Most of us believe that justice is essential for a good life. We think that society's duty is to support people in achieving basic rights. These include education, work, home, food, medicine, and the opportunity for self-fulfillment. In life, things do not always go according to plan. We sometimes find ourselves in situations where we experience unfair treatment. We may also treat other people or living beings unfairly ourselves. Our conscience may reproach us. In what cases is justice truly realized? Socratic dialogue is a form of group discussion where a topic is explored together through the participants' own experiences. Participation requires no prior knowledge. In communal dialogue, thinking skills, perspective-taking, argumentation, and strengthening common understanding are practiced. The course instructor is D.Th., Docent, and philosophy practitioner Pia Houni. The language of instruction is Finnish.
