Basic Course in Choral Conducting 6/2027

In the basic choir conducting course, the fundamentals of a choir conductor's skills are studied in an encouraging atmosphere. Instruction includes beating technique, choir score study, and tips for rehearsing a choir. The course is suitable for anyone interested in choir conducting. Previous choir conducting experience is not required, but experience with multi-part choir singing is beneficial. Instruction takes place in a group setting, and the course's practice choir is formed by the students themselves. The instructor is Saara Aittakumpu, lecturer of choir conducting at the Sibelius Academy. To enable us to plan the work and program as effectively as possible, taking into account the participants' backgrounds, we ask you to provide some information about your musical background in the registration's additional details. Please state your choir experience, which choir you have sung in, and for how many years. Also, state which voice part you sing, what other experience you have in music hobbies, and if you have any music degrees. The language of instruction is Finnish.
