Finland's only monastery taxi

Finland's only monastery taxi operates customized connection services between Valamo and Joensuu.

The Valamo Monastery taxi offers transportation to Valamo daily if needed. For now, the service focuses on shuttle transfers from Joensuu railway station to Valamo and back.

The Monastery taxi serves all guests arriving at Valamo, including overnight visitors, Valamo Lay Academy students, and volunteers.

The taxi ride must be booked in advance, at the latest on the day before the arrival day.

Free cancellation 1 day before the travel date; after that, for a cancelled booking, we charge the travel price of 26€.

The taxi has room for eight passengers, so it's advisable to book the ride in advance. We ask to be informed if a child under three years old travels with the taxi booker. It is not possible to travel with a pet in the taxi.

The connecting transfer, which is customized to the schedules of arriving and departing trains and buses in Joensuu, departs from Joensuu at approximately 3:00 PM. The transfer waits for the arrival of the Helsinki-Joensuu IC3 train. Arrival time at the monastery is approximately 4:00 PM.

The return transfer to Joensuu departs from the monastery at 1:45 PM

The transport price is 26 euros/person/direction.

Payment is made directly to the driver after the trip, with cash or most common payment cards. Standard luggage is included in the price; the taxi is not wheelchair accessible.

Schedules should be checked in advance, as they may change with summer and winter time.
