Course description

THE COURSE IS CURRENTLY FULL, WE ARE ACCEPTING REGISTRATION FOR RESERVE PLACES

This course is intended for those of you who have mastered the basics of lace making, but want to deepen and expand your skills and learn new, inspiring techniques. During the course, we will familiarize ourselves with lace making techniques from different countries and create small lace pieces that reflect global craft traditions. We will make, among others, the Slovenian Idrija and Schneeberg ribbon lace technique, the fascinating chrysanthemum lace, the Russian Vologda ribbon lace, the Brygge flower lace and techniques from other countries. During the course, you will also have the opportunity to bring your work to life by creating a background for it using the silk painting technique. You do not need any previous experience with this technique. This part of the course gives you the opportunity to bring out your creativity and make each of your lace pieces a unique piece. You are free to choose from different techniques and also make other laces if you wish. The laces can reflect holiday themes, such as Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter, or they can depict nature or animals.

If you wish, you can make a finished photo. For the course you will need a possible frame for your work and an open and creative mind. Contact the teacher if you have something special in mind, tel. 040 5919149.  The instructor is an experienced making teacher, artisan and restaurant entrepreneur in Lapland, Heli Rämö-Kaija.

The Epass mobile application is accepted as a payment method for this course.

Teacher

Rämö-Kaija Heli

I am Heli Rämö-Kaija, a lace-making teacher, Artisan with supervision. My day job is a rifle assembler. I graduated as an Artisan from Kouvola Regional Vocational College in 2019 and have taught lace-making at several community colleges since then. I do a lot of different crafts, knitting, fabric weaving and lace-making, as well as various woodworks. In the summer, I cycle a lot of different kinds of hikes, swim and exercise in nature. In the winter, I go hiking, skiing and downhill skiing. I easily get excited about new things and I am also happy to share this joy of crafts with others. The best thing about teaching is when students are still learning new things years after the hobby began. In the course, students can make both traditional works and everything the eye can see using techniques from different countries. The only limit is your imagination. You can see my own and my students' works on Instagram.
