The course is intended for students who have a strong grasp of icon painting fundamentals and are capable of independent work. Saint Anne gave birth to the Theotokos, whom God made the pinnacle of all human holiness, the only one pure enough to bear within her the Savior of the world.

The icon “Saint Anne with the Theotokos and Christ Child” depicts the Christ Child with His mother, the Holy Theotokos, and His grandmother, Saint Anne. Icons of this popular subject have been painted in Western church art since the 15th century. The significance of the composition is also indicated by the fact that 45 medieval wooden sculptures depicting the subject have been preserved in Finland. However, this 'icon of grandmotherhood' has remained a somewhat lesser-known subject among our country's icon painters. The board and model will be provided at the beginning of the course. Other tools and materials needed for the course can also be purchased from the college. Course instruction begins on November 10th; accommodation for the preceding night is included in the course price, and any meals on November 9th are paid at Trapesa at normal prices. Please note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting course prices. Instructor: icon conservator and painter Antti Narmala.

November special price 600 €/OH1 incl. teaching, accommodation, and meals according to the program. The language of instruction is Finnish.

The Epassi mobile application can be used as a payment method for this course.
