The course is intended for students who have a good grasp of the basics of icon painting and are capable of independent work. Saint Anna gave birth to the Mother of God, from whom God made the culmination of all human holiness, the only one pure enough to bear the Savior of the world within her.

The icon “Saint Anna with the Theotokos and Christ” depicts the Christ Child with his mother, the holy Theotokos, and his grandmother, Saint Anna. Icons of this popular subject in Western church art have been painted since the 15th century. The significance of the composition is also evident in the 45 medieval wooden sculptures depicting the subject that have been preserved in Finland. However, this “icon of grandmotherhood” has remained a somewhat less known subject among icon painters in our country. You will receive the base and model at the beginning of the course. Other tools and materials needed for the course can be purchased from the institute. Instruction for the course begins on 10.11., accommodation for the previous night is included in the course price, any meals on 9.11. are paid at Trapesaan at normal prices. Please note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting courses. The instructor is icon conservator and painter Antti Narmala.

November special price 600 €/OH1 includes instruction, accommodation, and meals as per the program.

The Epass mobile application can be used as a payment method for this course.
