Welcome to a knitting retreat where stitches flow, calming the mind. The retreat is suitable for both beginners and more experienced knitters. At the retreat, everyone knits their own projects; bring your needles and yarns. If needed, you can ask for advice on acquiring them in advance.

You can choose the theme of the retreat yourself: the community of knitting, relaxation, or learning a new skill. Minna will guide you to the craft and skill, whether you want to improve your expertise or get started in the world of knitting. Whether you have a wool sock, a knitted sweater, a scarf, or another knitted item in mind, you can realize it at the retreat. At the retreat, you will also get to know various traditional knitted works, knitting techniques, and knitting traditional patterns. Valamo's peace and monastic environment offer a unique opportunity to focus on creating and being present.

Instructor: knitwear designer and passionate knitter Minna Hele. The language of instruction is Finnish.

Teacher

Hele Minna

I am a Master of Arts and a designer from Eastern Finland. I live in the middle of the forest, surrounded by nature and its animals. As a designer, traditions and history are important to me, and I want to continue telling traditional stories through knitwear. My knitwear is born from the domestic character and form landscape, and I want to revive and maintain traditions in the form of knitwear.
