Whirring of the Spinning Wheel and Peace - Spinning Retreat 9/2026

Welcome to a spinning course that combines learning, working together, and a relaxed atmosphere. On the course, spinning wheels will whir and spindles will turn – the most important thing is to share time with other spinners and enjoy the joy of making. The spinning retreat also provides space for deeper discussions. Thoughts that arise while spinning can lead to contemplating life, values, and spiritual themes – everyone can participate in discussions according to their own desire and courage.

The course is suitable for both beginners and experienced spinners. If needed, you will learn the basics of spinning: handling raw wool, carding, spinning with a wheel and spindle, as well as plying yarn, winding and washing a skein. If you are already an experienced spinner, you can focus on your own project, exchange tips, and get inspiration from others.

Bring your own spinning wheel, spindle, and carders if you have them – but equipment is also available for loan on site. You can purchase a spindle from the teacher if desired.

The instructors are craft instructor and weaving artisan Päivi Lemmetyinen, assisted by priest-monk Rafael.
