Olifa Application Weekend 6/2027

Has the surface treatment of your icon been left undone, or is the olifa layer matte, or too glossy? On this weekend course, you can apply olifa to your icon under the guidance of the instructor, continue treating a surface that has become too matte with a new layer of olifa, and correct an uneven or unsuccessful olifa layer. Depending on the group size, you can bring two or three normal-sized icons to be treated with olifa, or one large one. Alongside practical work, we will explore the history, materials, and techniques of icon surface protection. The necessary olifa can be purchased from the institute. Please note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting courses. The instructor is icon conservator and painter Antti Narmala. The language of instruction is Finnish.
