Bole Gilding Course For icon painters 7/2027

On this course, we will delve into the traditional icon gilding technique, bolus or poliment gilding. We will learn the entire process from preparing the clay-rabbit glue mixture to handling loose gold, decorating, and protecting it. We will also explore the design and creation of decorative ornaments by engraving and polishing. The goal is to prepare a complete background gilding for the student's next icon. The gilding course is suitable for icon painters of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Supplies and materials can be purchased from the institute. Please also note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting courses. The course instruction begins on July 5. Accommodation for the preceding night is included in the course price; any meals on July 4 are paid at normal prices at Trapesa. If you combine this course with the icon painting advanced course starting on July 9, the combined price for the two courses is 900 €, and no other standard discounts are granted for it. Those under 35 years old receive a discount on the normal prices of both courses. The instructor is icon painter Sofia Williams. The language of instruction is Finnish.
