Welcome to a knitting retreat where stitches flow, calming the mind. The retreat is suitable for both beginners and more experienced knitters. During the retreat, everyone will knit their own projects; bring your own needles and yarn. If needed, you can ask for advice on acquiring these in advance.

You can choose the theme of the retreat yourself: the communal aspect of knitting, relaxation, or learning a new skill. Minna will guide you to the craft and skill, if you wish to improve your expertise or get started in the world of knitting. Whether you have a wool sock, a sweater, a scarf, or other knitwear in mind, you can create it at the retreat. At the retreat, you will also get to know various traditional knitwear, knitting techniques, and the knitting of traditional patterns. The peace of Valamo and the monastery environment offer a unique opportunity to focus on doing and presence.

Instructor: knitwear designer and passionate knitter Minna Hele. The language of instruction is Finnish.

The Epassi mobile application can be used as a payment method for this course.

Teacher

Hele Minna

I am a Master of Arts and a designer from Eastern Finland. I live in the middle of the forest, surrounded by nature and its animals. As a designer, traditions and history are important to me, and I want to continue telling traditional stories through knitwear. My knitwear is born from the domestic character and form landscape, and I want to revive and maintain traditions in the form of knitwear.
