Welcome to learn an interesting ancient technique. Nålebinding is an ancient technique, known in different parts of the world, that has been in use much earlier than knitting with needles or crocheting with a hook. In Finland, nålebinding was the only known technique for producing knitwear until the 17th century, when knitting with needles began to replace it, starting from the West. This method was still used in Eastern Finland in the 1950s for work mittens. With nålebinding, one can make mittens, socks, caps, or scarves, for example. On the course, you will learn how to make mittens from start to finish, including all stages.

If you own a nålebinding needle, bring it with you. You can also bring your own yarn; 100g of light-colored, somewhat thick, plied 100% wool yarn is best, but sock yarn also works. You can buy wooden nålebinding needles and yarns from the instructor. Instructor: craft advisor, weaving artisan Päivi Lemmetyinen. The language of instruction is Finnish.

The Epassi mobile application can be used as a payment method for this course.
