On the continuation course of the photography retreat, pinhole photography skills will be deepened, and expression will be expanded towards experimental darkroom work. On the course, we will prepare a developer for black-and-white photos from plants collected from the local nature and explore how they can be utilized in photography. We will use your own pre-built pinhole camera in photography, which guides you to observe the environment through unhurried and thoughtful exposures. We will go on photography excursions in Valamo's autumnal nature and engage in in-depth discussions about photos, natural processes, and environmental observation. The course combines hands-on work and traditional darkroom technique. This course is a continuation of the photography retreat, and everyone for whom darkroom work or pinhole photography is already somewhat familiar is welcome. We will review the basics of darkroom work at the beginning of the course. We will primarily photograph with participants' own pinhole cameras. The course instruction begins on the morning of October 1st; accommodation for the preceding night is included in the course price. Any meals on September 30th are paid at Trapesaan at normal prices. Instructor: fine artist (UAS) Joonas Ahtikallio. The language of instruction is Finnish.

Teacher

Ahtikallio Joonas

I am Joonas Ahtikallio (Master Photographer EAT), a photo artist from Jyväskylä. I am interested in old analog methods and experimental photography. With slower shooting methods, I achieve a state of vigilant serenity. In my work, I often ponder observation and the relationship with nature, how we see and experience our environment.
