The Course is the first part of a multi-course program, which aims to provide skills to serve temporarily in the role of an Orthodox cantor. In the first course, we focus on the Liturgy service. The learning material is a sheet music liturgy book. The course delves into the order of the Liturgy service, the troparion melodies of the eight tones, the fixed hymns of the Liturgy, the use of the tuning fork and vocalizations, and the basics of liturgical choir conducting. Also, the reader's parts in the Liturgy are studied. Course participants form a choir, and during the course, in a separately agreed manner, they participate in services both by singing in the choir and practicing cantor duties. The Course is suitable for those singing in an Orthodox choir as well as those mastering the basics of church singing, music theory, and solfeggio. The Course does not provide formal qualification as an Orthodox cantor. Applications for the Course are accepted, link to the application form, the application period Ends on 15.9.2027.
