Icon Painting Advanced Course: Mother of God Hodegetria 11/2026

The Hodegetria, or Guide, is one of the most important main types of icons of the Theotokos. Characteristically, the Christ Child sits on His mother's right or left arm, and the Theotokos's hand, raised in prayer, points to the Child, who is the way, the truth, and the life. This main group includes countless variations, such as the Tikhvin, Smolensk, Jerusalem, etc., icons. The version to be painted on the course is optional. Alongside practical painting work and guidance, we will go through the most well-known compositions. Please note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting course prices. Instructor: iconographer Alexander Wikström.
