Icon Painting for Those Who Have Already Painted Some: Christ Emmanuel 1/2027

The course is suitable for individuals who have completed Valamo Lay Academy's icon painting course for beginners, or have equivalent knowledge and skills. On this course, we will not paint the sometimes slightly intimidating 'little adult Jesuses' that appear in some icons, but rather the Christ-Child as delicate yet eternally wise. The course will focus on painting a portrait composition limited to the shoulders, concentrating on carefully painting the faces step by step, and examining the effect of different solutions on the expression. At the same time, we will delve into the theology and tradition of depicting Christ. Those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting courses. The teacher is Icon Painter Sofia Williams. The language of instruction is Finnish.
