In the photography retreat, we will calm down and seek inspiration for creative photography. During the retreat, a simple pinhole camera will be built, inviting you to slow down, focus, and observe your surroundings. In addition to the camera's operation, we will also delve into its history. Furthermore, we will develop photos using traditional darkroom methods, take photo excursions in Valamo's nature, and discuss photos and environmental observations together. The photography retreat offers an opportunity for reflection and slowing down amidst everyday life. The main focus of the retreat is on observing the environment and being present in the moment. The retreat is suitable for both experienced photographers and beginners. Course instruction begins on 25.9. in the morning; accommodation for the preceding night is included in the course price. Any meals on 24.9. are paid at Restaurant Trapesa at normal prices. The instructor is master photographer Joonas Ahtikallio. The language of instruction is Finnish.

Teacher

Ahtikallio Joonas

I am Joonas Ahtikallio (Master Photographer EAT), a photo artist from Jyväskylä. I am interested in old analog methods and experimental photography. With slower shooting methods, I achieve a state of vigilant serenity. In my work, I often ponder observation and the relationship with nature, how we see and experience our environment.
