Icon Painting Advanced Course: Free Subject 7/2027

The icon course is suitable for those who have basic icon painting skills and have already painted a few icons. The subject to be painted on the course is chosen according to the painter's skill level and painted using traditional egg tempera technique on a pre-primed icon board. If desired, the icon's background or halo can be gilded, and it is also possible to learn the use of assist gilding, for example, in radiant highlights on clothing or wings. We will go through the content and theology of icon subjects together during the course. Supplies and materials can be purchased from the institute. The course instruction begins on July 17, with accommodation for the preceding night included in the course price; any meals on July 16 are paid at normal prices at Trapesa. Please note that those under 35 years old receive a 40 percent discount on icon painting courses. The instructor is icon painter Raija Kanninen. The language of instruction is Finnish.
